A full-service move from Calgary to Mississauga runs roughly $6,500 CAD to $14,000 for a two or three bedroom home, and the truck takes 6 to 10 days door to door across about 3,400 km. The harder part is the arrival: picking a neighbourhood, booking a condo elevator and opening Peel utility accounts.
I have covered Mississauga council for eleven years. The question new arrivals ask most is “which part of this city am I supposed to live in?” Mississauga has no single downtown the way Calgary does, so the Alberta mental map does not transfer.
The route runs about 3,400 km, either north of Lake Superior on Highway 17 or south through Michigan. Carriers quote by weight and distance. A one-bedroom apartment at 2,000 to 3,500 lbs costs $3,800 to $6,500. A three-bedroom house at 8,000 to 12,000 lbs costs $9,000 to $16,000.
Shared-load service gives you a delivery window of 7 to 14 days, not a date. Dedicated trucks cost 40 to 60 percent more and arrive in 5 to 7 days. Book 4 to 6 weeks ahead for a summer move. Check the valuation coverage: basic liability runs about $0.60 per pound per article, which will not replace a sofa.
Mississauga is 292 square kilometres and roughly 760,000 people. It reads as one city on a map and eight or nine places on the ground. Commute times below run to Union Station at weekday peak.

Two notes. The Milton line runs mostly peak-direction on weekdays, so Streetsville and Meadowvale suit office hours, not shift work. And City Centre has no GO train station, which surprises almost everyone.
Price expectations are the other adjustment. Calgary households find the same budget buys one bedroom fewer here. Rent averages by bedroom count for the Toronto census metropolitan area sit in the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation housing data portal. Check it before signing sight unseen.
The neighbourhood decision drives the delivery address, and that address drives everything from elevator bookings to parking permits, so settle it before you confirm a load date. Carriers that run Calgary to Mississauga moving services regularly ask for the building type and postal code up front, because a Lorne Park driveway and a City Centre loading dock are different jobs, priced differently.
Four highways define daily life here. Highway 401 is the east-west spine and one of North America’s busiest freeways. Highway 403 cuts through the city toward Oakville and Hamilton. The QEW hugs the lakeshore. Highway 407 is the tolled bypass to the north.
GO Transit is the better answer for downtown work. Lakeshore West runs all day in both directions from Clarkson and Port Credit. The Milton line runs a limited weekday peak-direction schedule through Erindale, Cooksville, Streetsville, Meadowvale and Lisgar. MiWay feeds those stations and runs the Mississauga Transitway busway.
The 407 ETR is privately operated and priced per kilometre by zone and time of day. For a light passenger vehicle, expect roughly 40 to 75 cents per kilometre at peak, plus a per-trip charge of a few dollars. Drivers without a transponder pay a higher video toll charge.
A 25 km peak commute can therefore cost $15 to $25 per day, or $300 to $500 a month. Those are ranges, and the operator adjusts rates annually, so check the current rate chart. Most households use the 407 selectively, on airport runs and days when the 401 collectors have failed.
In a Square One tower, the building controls your move date more than the carrier does. City Centre property managers commonly book the service elevator 4 to 6 weeks out, and summer Saturdays go first. Expect four requirements:
The certificate of insurance is the item that goes wrong. Ask your carrier for it the week you sign, not the week you move. Property managers require the corporation’s exact legal name, and a reissue takes three business days.
Mississauga limits on-street parking in most residential areas to five consecutive hours, and winter overnight restrictions apply during the control season. A 53-foot trailer often cannot turn into a residential court, so carriers shuttle goods into a smaller straight truck for delivery. Ask whether that shuttle is included, because it can add $400 to $900.
For a curb lane closure, the City issues road occupancy permits through Transportation and Works, with current rules on the City of Mississauga parking pages. Brampton and Caledon run their own by-laws, so a Peel address is not one rule set.
Electricity is distributed by Alectra Utilities. Enersource, the former Mississauga utility, merged into Alectra in 2017, and longtime residents still say Enersource. A seller’s Enersource account is an Alectra account now. Water and wastewater are billed by the Region of Peel, not the City. Gas is Enbridge. Ontario prices electricity on time-of-use or tiered rates rather than the Alberta retail contract model, which confuses most Calgary arrivals.
Internet installation is the sleeper problem. Condo towers with existing fibre activate in 2 to 5 business days. Older Streetsville, Malton and Cooksville homes needing a new drop take 10 to 20 days. Book it the day your keys are confirmed.
Done in that order, the first week is administrative rather than chaotic. Statistics Canada tracks the steady interprovincial flow between Alberta and Ontario, so you are on a well-worn path, even at 6 a.m. on the 403.
